With over 10 million Americans of Polish descent and most of the world's Jews tracing their ancestry to Poland, the world eagerly anticipates the construction of the Museum of the History of Polish Jews (MHPJ). After nearly a decade of planning, international dignitaries will join the museum leadership in breaking the ground that will become Europe's largest Jewish museum. Situated on the site of the former Warsaw Ghetto, the 140,000 square-foot museum is scheduled to open in 2009.

Controversial British historian David Irving visited Poland from 2 - 8 March whilst researching for a biography of Heinrich Himmler. He was interviewed by Alan Heath in Warsaw on 8 March.

Germany and Poland have never had the easiest of relationships. But under the Kaczynski twins, the Polish government is drumming up nationalist fervor to maintain its fragile coalition. Relations with Germany have cooled perceptibly, and next week's visit to Berlin by the Polish prime minister may bring no improvement.
